On June 11, the Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority (AFEZ), Mr. Valeh Alasgarov, participated as a speaker in the “Technovation by PMI: Science &amp; Innovation for Sustainable Economic Transformation” forum, organized by AmCham Azerbaijan.

Speaking during the session “Government and Industry Perspectives: Economic Diversification through the Promotion and Development of the Non-Oil and Gas Sector,” Mr. Alasgarov presented the strategic role of the Alat Free Economic Zone in advancing Azerbaijan’s economic diversification agenda.His presentation highlighted AFEZ’s unique legal framework, competitive fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, strategic location at the crossroads of major international routes, and the availability of industrial land plots supported by fully developed infrastructure and utilities. Mr. Alasgarov also emphasized the opportunities the Zone offers to international investors who are interested in high-value added and export-oriented manufacturing.

The presentation of the Alat Free Economic Zone attracted considerable interest from participants, reflecting the growing attention of the business community to the opportunities offered by AFEZ.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Alat Free Economic Zone Authority (AFEZ Authority) was represented at the Caspian Oil &amp; Gas Exhibition 2026, held within the framework of Baku Energy Week, one of the region’s leading energy events. 

At the exhibition, AFEZ Authority showcased the investment opportunities and business-friendly environment offered by the Alat Free Economic Zone through its dedicated stand. Visitors and industry stakeholders were provided with comprehensive information on the Zone’s unique legal framework, extensive fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, advanced transport and logistics infrastructure, and fully serviced industrial land plots ready for immediate development. 

Throughout the exhibition, representatives of AFEZ Authority held a number of meetings with local and international companies operating in the energy, manufacturing, logistics, and industrial sectors. Discussions focused on potential investment opportunities and the advantages of establishing operations within the Zone. 

The AFEZ Authority stand attracted significant interest from exhibition participants, including representatives of local and international companies. Numerous discussions were held on the investment opportunities available within the Alat Free Economic Zone, and prospects for future cooperation were explored with potential partners and investors.

As part of Baku Energy Week, the inaugural meeting of the Azerbaijan–United States Economic Dialogue was held on June 2, 2026. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the U.S. Department of State in accordance with the Charter on Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America. 

Mr. Valeh Alasgarov, Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ) Authority, participated in the meeting and delivered a comprehensive presentation on the AFEZ. The presentation highlighted the Zone’s unique legal framework, ready-to-use on-site and off-site infrastructure, industrial land plots equipped with engineering and utility systems, as well as the wide range of financial and non-financial incentives available to investors. Particular emphasis was placed on the Zone’s transport and logistics infrastructure, strategic location, and future development potential. 

Representatives of the U.S. side expressed strong interest in the investment and business opportunities offered by the AFEZ.

Chairman of the Board of AFEZ Authority participated in Inaugural Azerbaijan–U.S. Economic Dialogue

A delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), including representatives from the infrastructure and urban development sectors, paid a visit to the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ). 

During the meeting, representative of the AFEZ Authority delivered a comprehensive presentation on the strategic role of the Zone as a major industrial, logistics, and investment hub in the region. The delegation was informed about the large-scale infrastructure works being carried out within the Zone, including the development of transport connectivity, utility networks, engineering systems, and modern industrial facilities designed to meet international standards.

During the visit, the parties exchanged views on prospects for further cooperation, particularly in relation to financing the continued development of the Zone’s infrastructure. Discussions also focused on potential mechanisms for supporting and financing projects implemented by AFEZ investors. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration to promote sustainable economic development.

A delegation from the Asian Development Bank paid a visit to the Alat Free Economic Zone 

A meeting was held between Mr. Valeh Alasgarov, Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority, and Mr. Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine. 

During the meeting, Mr. Alasgarov provided detailed information about the Alat Free Economic Zone. He outlined its distinctive legal framework, fully developed on-site and off-site infrastructure, industrial land plots equipped with engineering and utility systems, as well as a range of financial and non-financial incentives, along with transport and logistics facilities. 

Mr. Kuleba remarked that the presentation made a very positive impression on the Ukrainian delegation. He highlighted that the Zone’s extraterritorial status and the independence of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority create a strong foundation for its successful development. He also noted that the availability of industrial land plots with ready-to-use essential infrastructure is especially attractive to investors. 

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed strong interest in further developing cooperation.

A meeting was held between Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority and Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine

On May 7, 2026, a delegation led by the Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Muhammad Al Jasser, visited the Alat Free Economic Zone. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Samad Bashirli, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, along with other officials from the Ministry of Economy.&nbsp;

During the meeting held at the Alat Free Economic Zone, Mr. Valeh Alasgarov, Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority, delivered a comprehensive presentation about the Zone.

&nbsp;V. Alasgarov provided detailed information to the guests about the business environment created for investors in the Alat Free Economic Zone, including the Zone’s unique legal framework, package of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, industrial land plots with ready-to-use infrastructure and utilities, as well as its transportation and logistics advantages. He also highlighted the infrastructure developments completed in the Free Zone to date, as well as the ongoing projects being implemented within the territory. M. Al Jasser highly appreciated the work accomplished and particularly highlighted the projects being implemented.&nbsp;He particularly emphasized that the existence of transportation and logistics hubs, access to the seaport, highways, and railway networks, as well as the construction of an international airport, further enhance the attractiveness of the Zone.&nbsp; At the same time, he expressed great interest in the fact that the Alat Free Economic Zone has benefited from the experience of other successful free zones. He noted that the application of the “one-stop shop” principle in managing relations with investors, as well as the centralized management of processes from single point, further enhances the attractiveness of the Zone.

As part of the visit, the delegation and officials of the Ministry of Economy familiarized themselves with the business environment created for investors in the Alat Free Economic Zone. The guests first visited the FEZ 1 area designated for high value-added export-oriented manufacturing industries, where they familiarized themselves with the infrastructure works carried out. They later observed the construction process of the international airport being built in the FEZ 4 area.

The delegation of Alat Free Economic Zone Authority (AFEZ Authority) participated in “Hannover Messe 2026,” one of the world’s leading industrial exhibitions. Held on April 20–24 in Hannover, Germany, the exhibition brought together approximately 3,000 companies.

At the exhibition, AFEZ Authority was represented with a dedicated stand, where the delegation provided detailed information to participants about the favorable business environment created for investors in the Alat Free Economic Zone. Within the framework of the exhibition, the delegation held a number of meetings with companies from Italy, Türkiye, China, India, and other countries, as well as with German companies with the support of the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce.

During the meetings, potential investors were informed about the Zone’s unique legal framework, extensive fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, advanced transport and logistics capabilities, as well as industrial land plots with ready-to-use infrastructure and utilities.

Representatives of the AFEZ Authority highlighted the advantages offered by the Alat Free Economic Zone and invited foreign investors to establish manufacturing facilities within the Zone.

Alat Free Economic Zone Authority participated in the Hannover Messe 2026 exhibition

A delegation from the Bureau of Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs of the United States Department of State, headed by Rebecca Neff and Amy Carlon, visited the Alat Free Economic Zone. 

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of the AFEZ Authority, Mr. Valeh Alasgarov, delivered a comprehensive overview of the AFEZ. He highlighted its unique legal regime, fully established internal and external infrastructure, industrial land plots supplied with engineering and utility networks, as well as various financial and non-financial incentives, together with advanced transport and logistics capabilities. 

Both sides also exchanged views on opportunities for future cooperation and expressed strong interest in further strengthening bilateral engagement.

On April 1, 2026, a meeting was held between Mr. Valeh Alasgarov, Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority (AFEZ Authority), and Mr. Nokerguly Atagulyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. 

Mr. Atagulyev remarked that the presentation left a very positive impression on Turkmen delegation. He highlighted that the Zone’s extraterritorial status and the independence of the AFEZ Authority create a strong basis for its successful growth. He also noted that the availability of industrial land plots with ready-to-use essential infrastructure is especially appealing to investors. 

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed a strong interest in further developing cooperation.

A meeting was held between the Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan

On March 16, 2026, a meeting was held between the delegation led by Ambassador of Italy Mr. Luca Di Gianfrancesco, first secretary Mr. Marvin Seniga, and the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority (AFEZ Authority).

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of the AFEZ Authority, Mr. Valeh Alasgarov, delivered a detailed presentation on the Alat Free Economic Zone. The presentation highlighted the Zone’s unique legal framework, ready-to-use on-site and off-site infrastructure, industrial land plots equipped with engineering and utility systems, a package of financial and non-financial incentives, as well as its transport and logistics centers.

Ambassador Luca Di Gianfrancesco noted that the presentation on the Alat Free Economic Zone had made a strong impression on them. He emphasized that the extraterritorial status of the Alat Free Economic Zone and the independence of the AFEZ Authority provide a solid foundation for the Zone’s successful development. He also pointed out that industrial land plots equipped with ready-to-use essential infrastructure are particularly attractive to investors.

At the end of the meeting, the Italian side expressed strong interest in continuing cooperation.&nbsp;&nbsp;
