The Azerbaijan-Croatia Economic and Investment Forum was held on February 28, 2025, in Zagreb. The Minister of Economy, Mr. Mikayil Jabbarov, delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the potential for trade relations between the two countries and the promotion of investments in both Azerbaijan and Croatia. He invited Croatian companies interested in regional expansion to consider investing in the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ), which offers unique legislation and an attractive business environment. He also highlighted the necessity of constructing a new Cargo Terminal in AFEZ to facilitate the shipment of high-value-added goods, such as pharmaceuticals, microchips, and other high-tech products.
The Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority, Mr. Valeh Alasgarov, participated in a panel discussion, where he emphasized unique legislation of AFEZ, high degree of extraterritoriality, strategic geographic location, and a comprehensive package of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives. He also highlighted that AFEZ provides ready-to-use industrial land plots, creating favorable opportunities for manufacturing companies from around the world, including Croatia.
